“The Gift of America”
by Karen Lee and Arista

“The Gift of America” is the real life story of Karen (Kyung) Lee, the great grand daughter of the first and only Prime Minister in Korean history and her tumultuous journey from war-torn Korea, to beginning anew in Germany and finally arriving in America which is the country that will define her life through freedom, individualism and the American dream. We follow Karen’s life as a young girl as the war for independence leaves Kyung’s Family stripped of title and land and further catastrophe as her father, recovering from a stroke he endured while imprisoned, is lost in the mad exodus of citizens fleeing to the south as North Korean armies invaded the south.

In America, Karen learns to fight for her own independence from the cultural servitude of her elder siblings- once royal, the language barrier and becomes one of the first minority owned business women to be awarded a U.S. government contract to make uniforms for the armed forces.
