Chad Foundation goes Off Broadway

In April 2002 The Chad Foundation for Athletes and Artists sponsored their first Off Broadway stage production of "Welcome Home, Kelly!" by Arista, at the Sande Shurin Theatre. Twenty-five nurses from Capuano Home Care in Holyoke, MA, who donate so much time to our heart screenings, hired a bus and came down to see our play. They loved in so much they're working to bring it to the 'five colleges' in Massachusetts. Rutgers University is also considering a production of "Welcome Home, Kelly!". The screenplay version was considered by Universal a few years back, and now we are developing 'Kelly' into an indie film project to be shot in New York's Chinatown and Los Angeles.

The story deals with a daughter's challenge of reconnecting to her father, family and community after a 20-year absence. It is a timely play which reminds us all why we are here... because of the hope and courage of our ancestors. We are all the beneficiaries of their long voyage toward freedom.
